NOLA

Last weekend we made a spur of the moment decision to drive to NOLA for the weekend. Patrick was visiting us for his spring break and it sounded like the perfect place to spend a couple of days. So, the guys loaded up their bikes and I drove the support vehicle and we headed east!

First stop: Blue Dog Cafe in Lafayette for lunch.

Next stop: Tabasco.

We checked into the W, went out to dinner that night and woke up to a gorgeous view the next morning of the W Courtyard.

Then it was time to hit the streets for the day.

That night there was a huge parade but I didn't get any pics of it! We had a hard time finding a place to eat but we ducked into Pierre Masperos and it was delicious. Best bread pudding of the entire trip.

Sunday morning we went to House of Blues for Gospel Brunch and got our groove on. I guess we booked late and ended up with tix up in the corner rafters so that was the only downside but we still had a pretty good view. And the huge buffet was yum! They had everything from omelettes, fruit, waffles to crawfish, potato salad, fried chicken and biscuits and gravy!

Then we headed back to Jackson Square for a few pics and walked up to Marie Laveau's VooDoo shop so Patrick could buy a magic bean (I still carry mine in my wallet since we bought them a few years ago) and then to Jean Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop which claims to be the oldest bar in the country.

Until next time, NOLA...
