Hill Country Ride

Justin and I have been wanting to take a motorcycle trip out to the Hill Country (well, Big Bend really, but we can't find the time to go that far for as long as we'd like to) but the weather hasn't been cooperating. We decided to take our chances on Thursday and booked a condo at the River Inn in Hunt, Tx for the weekend. Friday we rode through Bastrop and had burgers at the Roadhouse (I had a black bean burger that was absolutely delicious and made so fresh it was falling apart. yum!) The clouds actually made for some really nice temperatures and gorgeous pictures.

After we checked into the resort we went to Elaine's table for dinner. For anyone who has spent any time in Hunt, Tx you know that the only 2 options for dinner are the Hunt Store and Elaine's - and the Hunt Store isn't my idea of a restaurant :)

On Saturday, St Patrick's Day, we had a long ride planned out. We left Hunt and went through Vanderpool, Utopia and stopped in Concan.

Then we headed to Leakey and stopped at the Motorcycle Stop for lunch and a break.

And now we start the ride we drove all the way out here to do - the "Twisted Sisters" - Ranch Roads 337, 335 and 336 (in that order.) Twisty mountain curves, clear rivers, beautiful landscape and lots of hills. We went through Camp Wood which is known for the dam under the bridge where people come to swim during the summer (we swam a few years ago when we made this trip but it was a little chilly this weekend), past a wildlife reserve where we saw giraffe and kangaroo, and saw lots of beautiful ranches.

We had dinner in Kerrville and then picked up the fixin's for smores and hung out by the fire at the resort.

This morning we stopped by the Arts Foundation in Ingram to see Stonehenge II. It was built to be an exact replica.

And 875 miles later...we're home.
